Grand Champion English Steer
2005 Dixie National Steer Show
One of my proudest moments this year was watching Kody Miller showing and winning the English Division with his steer "Bring It On" at the Dixie National. This was Kody's first official year to show at Jackson and he did it up right. Kody and his family came to my sale last year wanting to find a steer that would do o.k. and that they could learn with and not be embarrassed with. I think they found it in this steer as he was also the Reserve Supreme Grand Champion Steer over all breeds at the Mississippi State Fair in October. Kim, Kody and Kash's efforts, hard work and dedication did pay off as these three fulfilled many dreams as they worked together as a team and everyone did their part. I truly have appreciated their trust in my program and my cattle. Watch for this trio this year as they will be showing an awesome American and European from me again this year.

Supreme Champion Commercial Female
2005 Dixie National Livestock Exposition
"Kat" is well known through the south this year as quite possibly the winningest heifer to ever travel the circuit in her area. Purchased by Sullivan Club Calves to be a donor cow in their program, it did not take long for her to work her way into the show barn and into the trailer. This heifer was never defeated in Division and was Supreme Champion Commercial virtually every time shown. She could handle the competition from the ring to the pasture. Truly this heifers best days are ahead of her as she already has a powerful Maine Break bull calf on the ground and is headed into an embryo transplant program. I have purchased part of this great female back from the Sullivans and will be offering embryos out of her for sale soon. Alex and Justin put a lot of effort into campaigning this heifer and their efforts paid off as she was truly one of the most admired cattle to ever hit the show ring in Jackson. Again, this shows that the team work of a brother and sister can take you as far as you want to go.

Grand Champion American Steer
2005 Dixie National Livestock Exposition
Kristin is one of my favorite stories of the year also. This is one hard working young lady who does not usually get to see the end of the day, it just blends into the next day. This American steer was incredibly successful this year in the Mississippi show circuit. He ended his career by being named Champion American at the Dixie National. Kristin was in her next to last year and wanted to get a calf that could at least not be embarassing and she certainly did that with this steer. The only comment people could come up with was "He is to good to be an American". Well he proved out in the end just as Kristin did that sometimes being good is the best route. This was a good calf, but Kristin is really one of the best and I am truly happy that she got to enjoy a dream in one of her last years. Kristin is not ready to settle for this win though as she returned this year and bought a really good English steer from me and he should make some waves this year also. Thanks also to Justin Sullivan and Greg Brown for their help in getting this calf ready.
